Welcome back to This & That, our weekly round-up of the things that have made life feel a little calmer, cosier, or just more fun. We’ve spent a lot of time at home this week, which has meant slow mornings, longer evenings, and more time to really enjoy the small stuff. If you like the sound of anything, the title of each product is clickable.
Here are ten things that made this week a little better.
We’ve always had a bit of a thing about how our home smells. There’s just something about walking into a room that’s softly scented that makes it feel calmer and more put together. This portable diffuser has become one of our favourite little luxuries. You can move it around the house with you and even take it in the car. Neom’s scents are all rooted in aromatherapy, which means they actually help you feel better too. We’ve been using it every day this week.
2. Habitat Bistro Set *(currently 20% off)*
We added this little set to the courtyard just outside our kitchen and it’s made such a difference. It’s where we’ve had coffee most mornings this week, and it just feels like a small moment of calm. The set is simple and affordable, but it looks beautiful and fits the space perfectly. It’s become a new favourite corner of our home.
3. ‘Life in Pictures’ Photo Album
This was actually a birthday gift for Toby a few months ago, but we only sat down to properly start filling it this week. There’s something really lovely about printing out photos and giving them a home. We spent an evening going through memories and sticking them in, and it reminded us how special it is to hold something in your hands rather than swipe on a screen.
We bought ourselves this chess set when we moved in, but only played it this week. We lit a candle, made a coffee, and played for hours on Sunday. The board is beautiful and sits out on display, and even though we’re both a bit rusty, there’s something really peaceful about it. It felt like such a wholesome way to spend time together.
We’ve basically been living in these lately. They’re comfy enough to sleep in, soft enough to lounge around in, and still feel nice to wear. The quality is great, they wash well, and they’ve sort of become our unofficial uniform when we’re winding down. One of those simple things that just makes life feel a bit easier.
Mikey’s been growing his curls out again and this has been a little self-care ritual we’ve both been enjoying. We use the full three-step routine in the bath and it’s been helping bring his hair back to life. It’s also super affordable compared to other curl products and smells really lovely too. A small thing, but it makes the end of the day feel more like a wind-down.
We’ve had this tray for a while but found it again this week and styled it up on the sideboard. There’s something about grouping a candle and diffuser on it that makes the whole space feel more finished. It’s simple, but it really helps make things look intentional and calm.
We use this coffee machine every single day. It strikes the perfect balance between manual and automatic — easy enough for mornings, but still gives you that barista feeling. The milk frother is our favourite bit. It takes the guesswork out completely and gives you the perfect texture for whatever drink you’re in the mood for. Just a proper coffee, every time.
This sits by the front door on a little stack of books and it honestly makes us smile every day. It’s just a simple engraved brass box filled with matches, but there’s something about it that feels grounding. It’s one of those things that doesn’t serve a huge purpose, but still brings a small spark of joy. A perfect gift if you ever need one.
This is one of those scents that people always ask about. It’s deep and woody with a slightly leathery edge, and feels perfect for evenings. We often spritz it even if we’re not going anywhere, just because it makes us feel nice. Definitely a staple in both of our routines.
That’s it for this week’s round-up.
More of this, and that, next time.
